Our Farm: We
are a small farm that specializes in growing unique vegetables and greens.
You can expect to have mostly greens in the beginning of the season. In
mid season the greens become sparse due to the hot weather. We grow a lot
of greens because they are nutritious, but also because they are a sustainable
crop. In addition, we grow unique colors and varieties of the vegetables
and provide an array of heirloom varieties. Therefore our CSA is targeted
towards members who are adventurous in the kitchen and with their palate.
Our CSA is designed to have a strong relationship with the farmer and the
consumer through regular communication. We welcome and encourage volunteer
hours from our members. It is a participatory way to create a close bond
with your food and your farmers.
Vegetable
Share: Please
click on the Vegetable Availability Chart above or visit our blog to
see what we grow. Note that the produce we provide is seasonal (fresh/local).
For example, we will not be able to provide spinach in the middle of
summer. A full share share receives 8 "items" per week and
a half share receives 4 items . An item is a bunch or unit of produce
which we package. We try to match this unit to what you would find in
the grocery store. Some examples are:
* 2lbs potato
* 1 head leattuce
* 1 bag salad mix
* 2lbs tomato
* 1lb peppers
* 1.5lbs carrots or beets
* 1lb bunch greens such as kale or chard
* 2lbs cucumber or summer squash
* 1lb beans
What
makes our CSA unique from other CSA is that we generally stick to the
units above and the number of items
in a box. If we
have extra produce you will find it listed on our weekly email and you
will have to order extras. This gives the member a choice
of having extra vegetables instead of overwhelming their kitchens. To see
a history of our offerings please see visit our blog.
How many people does a full or
half share feed?
This is
a commonly asked question. This answer all depends on the member s diet,
lifestyle and commitment to using the
vegetables. We have single members who enjoy a full share and families of
4 who are satisfied with a half share.
